WHY NOTRE DAME?
The University of Notre Dame is nationally renowned, and each year draws the top students from around the country and world.
In 2011, there were 16,547 applicants for undergraduate admission to the University of Notre Dame. Notre Dame provides a premier academic education in an enriching faith-based environment.
- Notre Dame’s First Year of Studies is a distinct academic college designed to provide all first year students with broad –based fields of study, an academic counselor, and the opportunity to experience a wide-range of courses in order to determine their choice of college and major.
- Notre Dame has five colleges from which to choose, each providing the opportunity for a specific major field of studies. These colleges are Arts and Letters, Science, Engineering, Business, and Architecture.
- 100% of first year students live on campus. Notre Dame was established as a residential university, providing students the opportunity to live for all four years on campus.
- Notre Dame's Catholic identity embodies students' academic and residential life. Opportunities for service projects, service outreach, participation in liturgies and retreats abound through academic, residential, ministerial, and extracurricular programs.
- Study-abroad programs and global service provide students with enriching experiences in many countries. Study-abroad opportunities are a part of every college's program. Service projects abroad, such as in Haiti, are sponsored by the Center for Social Concerns
- The University of Notre Dame offers the opportunity for advanced study. Graduate programs are offered through all five colleges. The Law School and the Mendoza College of Business offer professional degrees.
